Microsoft announced on Tuesday that there are now 50 million active user accounts on Windows Azure, and offered some statistics on its

authentication service in its cloud platform in a blog post.

Microsoft launched the authentication service on Windows Azure in 2010, and since then has processed 200 billion authentications.

Microsoft says that in an average week it receives 4.7 billion authentication requests for users in over 420 thousand different domains.
