SEO tools provider Attracta announced it has named hosting technology veteran David Koston its chief technology officer, a role in which he will oversee Attracta’s core technology development across all business units.

The move seems like a natural fit considering Koston’s extensive experience in web hosting automation and web application usability, which should help Attracta grow out its business even further.

After consulting for Attracta for almost two years — specifically with its cPanel integration — Attracta discussed the possibility of Koston joining the company on a full-time basis so he could help the SEO tools firm in a number of other areas, Koston said in a phone interview with The WHIR.

“Dave made a tremendous impact expanding our technology vision over the past year while working as a consultant on our cPanel integration,” said Ken Leonard, Attracta president and CEO. “His commitment to join our executive team, and expand his role in shaping the company’s future, reflects his shared vision in the exciting future of Attracta’s technology within the hosting industry.”

Last October, Attracta began bundling its SEO tools with cPanel, making it the first time a third party application has been incorporated into the control panel in this way.

Aaron Phillips, VP of operations at cPanel, and Troy McCasland, VP of business development at Attracta, recently discussed the history of the cPanel-Attracta partnership in a video interview with WHIR TV.

Koston, who is a well know software technologist, is also a web hosting veteran, having worked in the industry since the late nineties.

He previously served as vice president of operations at cPanel. After cPanel, he started Koston Consulting where he helped companies launch new customer-centric products such as GlobalSign’s OneClickSSL for cPanel.

He is also actively involved in startup mentoring and promotes the use of data driven decision-making through a combination of “lean and agile methodologies,” according to the press release.

Koston presented “How To Deliver Products Customers Will Pay For In” at HostingCon 2012 in July, where he will give some helpful tips in successful product development.

“Attracta is looking to formalize a growth strategy with all those different technologies, as well as determining where exactly the specific values for customers is and increase that value,” said Koston. “My job is to coordinate all those technologies and resources and aim them towards customer value.”
