Gambling company 888.com has bought the domain name poker.com.au to try and increase the number of players using its website.
The firm paid $100,000 (£64,000) for the domain name despite a ban on gambling advertising in Australia, though legalisation in the future could see its worth increase dramatically.
Internet-poker.co.uk reports that poker.ca sold for $400,000 last year, though regulations are no as strict in Canada.
Though the website is not yet fully functional, a message appears saying that content will appear soon and a banner is also included linking it to the 888.com site.
It says: "The Poker Guide that will change the way you think about poker, play poker and even dream your hand in poker is coming soon with all the features that you'll want and all the bonuses and special offers that you're looking for."
Last week, another betting domain name, gambling.com, went on the market for $9 million (£5.77 million).
