Holding an international conference means many languages. In some ways all domain conferences are international, but it was even more the case with DOMAINfest Prague.
The official language of the conference was English, but DomainSponsor wanted to make sure everyone could understand. So it had real-time translators for several languages. Attendees could wear a headset and tune into their language “U.N.-style”:
Headphones for hearing translations.
Translators in back of room.
Translations were available in Czech, Polish, and German during sessions as well as the auction.
Yet I didn’t see anyone wearing the headphones. I asked a couple German domainers what they thought about the lack of use. They said that most domainers in Europe have at least a working knowledge of English. It’s necessary to do business in this space, they said.
