Elise Gerich,a 21 year veteran of Internet networking ,has been named the Vice President for the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) function of ICANN. The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority function of ICANN is responsible for the global coordination of the Domain Name System (DNS) Root,IP addressing and other Internet protocol resources .
"Elise brings a wealth of relevant background to ICANN and will be a great fit for the role and the team ," said Doug Brent,ICANN's Chief Operating Officer."When it comes to IANA function,she will be an outstanding ICANN representative to the international Internet community ."
Before joining ICANN,Gerich worked for Juniper Networks for nine years,serving most recently as Director of Software Product Management .Prior to that,she worked as the Director of Operations for the @Home Network,which built an operated the first national backbone for delivery of Internet Services by North American cable operators.
In addition to her commercial experience ,Gerich has been the Co-chair of the Internet Planning Group Chair and Co-founder of the North American Network Operators' Group,and a member of the Internet Architecture Board.
