Web hosting provider ColoHouse Data Center has begun construction on Phase II of its downtown Miami data center expansion

Web hosting and colocation provider ColoHouse Data Center announced on Tuesday it has begun construction on Phase II of its downtown Miami data center expansion, located at 36 NE 2nd Street.

The move comes a couple months after ColoHouse named Timothy Armstrong executive vice president.

The expansion project will equate to over 6,000 square feet of additional carrier-neutral, premium raised floor colocation space.

ColoHouse has seen a significant increase in the demand for IT infrastructure and services, with its customer base more than doubling within the last year.

Miami is also known as both a regional and international Internet hub. ColoHouse’s expansion further strengthens its value offering, providing a solid Internet backbone and redundant, flexible options for those companies who require Miami connectivity.

ColoHouse breaks ground amidst a lease agreement with data center operator Digital Realty Trust, which substantially increased the length of the lease.

The data center is a telecom grade, Category 5 hurricane protected building which resides outside of FEMA’s 500-year flood zone.

The Digital Realty Trust agreement solidified ColoHouse’s advancement in the data center marketplace as well as its continued commitment to Miami, says ColoHouse.

The Phase II expansion, designed by an Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer, will feature added redundancy, increased space, and power capacity.

ColoHouse says it will release more details later this year as the build-out approaches completion.
