Google celebrated Paul Cézanne’s birthday (172nd) with a painting as they announced their annual doodle 4 Google competition. The doodle 4 Google competition invited secondary school children from across the United States to create their own six-letter logo using their creativity. After thorough judging, the winner of the doodle 4 Google competition will walk away with a $15,000 scholarship and a $25,000 technology grant for their school.

      Since the French painter is best known to experiment with multiple views of the same subject, the doodle Google used to celebrate Cézanne’s birthday also walks on the lines of Cubism. Honoring his work is the best way to launch a competition that is as creative as his work.

      Children have the option to create their doodle 4 Google using anything they want to. They can draw using conventional paper, pencil and crayon, use Photoshop or creative photography. On Google’s official blog, vice president Marissa Mayer writes, “In the spirit of thinking big, our theme this year is “What I’d like to do someday…” – giving all of the talented young dreamers an opportunity to flex their creative muscles.” She also added that “We know this crop of students will be the generation of tomorrow’s leaders and inventors, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with.”

      Cézanne’s birthday doodle can provide a great inspiration for all the little designers planning to submit their entries for the doodle 4 Google competition.
