Shift to syndicated buy-it-now domain listings changes what you do after receiving an offer on your domain names.

      In the “old days” when you received an offer on a domain name your first step would be to try to figure out who’s was making the offer.

      But now that many people are using buy-it-now syndicated, there’s a step that’s even more important: removing your buy-it-now listing before negotiating.

      For example, over the weekend I received an offer at Sedo on one of my domain names. I had it listed as a premium listing. Before responding to the offer I deleted the listing first. Had I not done this, it’s possible someone else would have come along and purchased the domain name while I was still negotiating.

      In this case there was an added benefit to removing the premium listing — I was able to sell the domain for more through Sedo than I was asking at other sites. Had I not deleted the listing then the buyer may have checked other site and been able to negotiate lower.
