A Business Pulse survey said it is Apple that will be on top in Silicon Valley.
Google Inc. may virtually own the online search market and Facebook Inc. rule the social networking world. But when it comes to lasting market value, readers who participated in our most recent Business Pulse survey said it is Apple Inc. that will be on top in Silicon Valley.
The Cupertino maker of the iPhone, iPod, iPad and Mac computers (NASDAQ:AAPL) is already on its way to becoming the most valuable company in the world with an estimated value of more than $300 billion. It trails only Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE:XOM) in total worth.
About 40 percent of those who chose in the unscientific online poll said Apple will be more valuable than Facebook and Google in five years.
About 28 percent chose Google, whose Android operating system topped Apple's in market share at the end of last year.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was Time magazine's person of the year for 2010 but his company was only chosen by about 15 percent of those who participated.
The survey was conducted between Jan. 4 and Jan. 11.
