Groupon deal of the day: Marry me

It's the kind of romantic boy-meets-girl, boy-asks-girl-to-marry-him story sure to warm your heart ... or make you sprain your eyeballs because you rolled them so hard.
It all depends on how you feel about people using the latest technology to facilitate unusual marriage proposals.
So here it is: The first Groupon wedding proposal has now taken place.
The enormously popular deal-of-the-day discount site usually offers up things like $50 unlimited Pilates classes and $150 teeth whitening services. But on Wednesday, Groupon offered a very special deal. That is Greg H. (an engineer) asked Dana B. (an NFL cheerleader) to marry him. The price: $1 (though originally valued at $999,999.)
And Dana bought it. Or rather, she said yes.
Though the participants remain anonymous, the romantic Groupon deal page is filled with details of their relationship that range from heartwarming ("Through good times and bad, distances between us, and the odds against us, we always made it because of each other") to over sharing ("Greg and Dana’s relationship began as casual movie nights transformed into record-setting make-out sessions." I didn't need to know that.)
But no matter how you feel about marriage as a transaction (even a joke transaction), Greg's proposal is pretty sweet. After all, he promises:
With a simple answer of "yes," Dana B. gets to spend the rest of her life with Groupon-approved Stand-up Guy Greg H., who vows to always eat the disgusting bacon from her plate while giving her his tender, delicious mushrooms. A lifetime with Greg H. also comes with such perks as an always-willing concert partner, at least a dozen movie nights over the course of the fiscal year, IT support, and a continued willingness to pretend to enjoy theater.
And the folks at Groupon, clearly a bunch of softies themselves, even chime in with a list of suggestions for a successful marriage. Among their pointers:
* If you hear the pitter-patter of little feet, act quickly, as it is notoriously hard to get leprechauns out of your walls once the queen has laid her eggs.
* Nacho Thursdays!Of course, here's hoping the young couple reads the fine print: "Either party may develop a snoring problem. One or both participants will not always look like a 20-year-old."
