The primary focus of The.nlyst will be .nl. With more than four million domain names, .nl is the world’s fourth biggest country-code domain. And no other nation on earth has more domain names per head of the population than the Netherlands. Consumers and businesses are able to choose from a large number of registrars offering a wide variety of services. The.nlyst seeks to provide an informative picture of developments in this highly dynamic environment. Coverage will also be given to international developments and to new services from SIDN. The magazine will additionally aim to pass on practical and useful information. Before long, SIDN intends to make it possible to respond to and discuss the magazine’s content on line. In this way, SIDN hopes to attune The.nlyst to the needs and wishes of its readers.

      In this first issue, SIDN devote considerable space to the signing of the .nl zone using DNSSEC. Vulnerabilities in the existing DNS mean that, in principle, it is possible to intercept e-mail and misdirect internet users to fake websites. DNSSEC prevents these forms of abuse. The .nl domain is already one of the most secure in the world, and the introduction of DNSSEC can only improve its security further.

      The.nlyst is distributed free of charge to SIDN’s registrars and other stakeholders. Each edition will be made available on SIDN's website in digital form.
