  • A slew of web hosts have all launched new hosting services based on Windows Server 2012 Related Topics: blacknight, canadian web hosting, codero, hostway, iweb, media3, new products, rackspace, server technology, windows server 2012 A slew of web hosting and cloud hosting companies including Rackspace, Hostway, Codero, iWeb, Canadian Web Hosting, Blacknight, and Media3 Technologies have all launched new hosting services this week based on Microsoft’s recently released Windows Server 2012. Launched on Tuesday, Windows Server 2012 is a significant step forward in Microsoft’s cloud computing strategy, providing customers with a single platform to manage and deliver applications and services across private, hosted and public clouds. According to Microsoft, the new cloud operating system will help to advance the speed, scale and power that data centers and applications can build on. By launching web hosting and cloud services built on Windows Server 2012, hosting companies are able to provide their customers with the ability to make hundreds of changes to their server’s features and interface, while ultimately staying competitive with the rest of the industry. And while they are all offering hosting services based on the same technology, the hosting companies seem to be marketing their services around a different benefit of Windows Server 2012. For instance, iWeb seems to be emphasizing the use of Windows Server 2012 with its range of dedicated servers, including its newly introduced Intel Xeon E3 and E5 processors.

Cloud Hosting company Media3 Technologies is now fully supporting Windows Server 2012 for all of its cloud products including cloud servers, cloud sites, and hybrid-cloud options. In its press release, Media3 focuses on the instant provisioning and greater control capabilities of Windows Server 2012 via the company’s proprietary web and mobile app. Rackspace has adopted a more all-encompassing approach by equally emphasizing the benefits of Windows Server 2012 being a cross-premises application platform, ease and flexibility, and a scalable and elastic web platform. Meanwhile, Canadian Web Hosting and Hostway are leveraging the Hyper-V Replica feature included in Windows Server 2012. Both companies are offering virtual machine replication service, enabling IT departments to perform cross-site replication of VMs from one Windows Server Hyper-V host to another.
