On Thursday, the company announced its latest AWS Global Start-Up Challenge, allowing companies to take home honors in categories including big data and HPC, consumer and business applications and gaming.

To prove their worthiness, entrees must highlight their companies’ integration with the Amazon Web Services platform. “Entries will be judged on their use of AWS services, originality and creativity, likelihood of long term success and scalability, and how well the business addresses a need in the marketplace,” commented the company via its blog.

And while being recognized by one of the world’s most popular cloud infrastructures could be regarded as considerate enough, the prizes are quite large. Winners for each category will receive AWS credits accounting for $50 thousand and general money adding up to another $50 thousand.

The prizes don’t end there. Also in the mix are a year’s worth of AWS Business Support and technical mentoring sessions. November ninth is the looming due date for companies to submit their entries. AWS will announce semi-finalists later that month and will further narrow the list down by early December. Meanwhile, final awards will be handed out in January.

Amazon Web Services also recently revealed the addition of a third availability zone in Tokyo, Japan. The move provides for further flexibility and greater instances for EC2.
