On Friday, bidding giant eBay unveiled statistics pertaining to its digital infrastructure – something that showed the company powered 54,011 physical servers during Q1 of 2013.

The move follows a pledge made by eBay to reveal such statistics earlier this year.

“The goal of releasing DSE was to provide a transparent view of how the eBay engine is performing, as well as spark an industry dialogue between companies, big and small, about how they use their technical infrastructure and the impact it’s having on their business and the planet. In the past month, we’ve been excited to see – and participate in – the dialogue and conversation that has come as a result,” stated the company via a blog post.

Other results, meanwhile, showed that the company maintained 116.2 million active users, had a power load of 19.08 and each server used accounted for $29,772.

The company also discussed some progress along with efficiency goals, noting that costs per transaction had fallen by 23% during Q1. Transactions per kWh also increased by 18% compared to last year.

In addition to that, eBay showed a larger march towards carbon neutrality, noting that its carbon per transaction had dropped by 7% for Q1.
