Digital Domain CEO wins judge’s ban against two anonymous message board posters

 Saying he and his family were startled by anonymous comments on a message board, Digital Domain Media Group Chairman and Chief Executive John Textor persuaded a Martin County judge to order that Yahoo! remove the writings.

Citing a Florida law against cyberstalking, the Textors last month asked for an injunction against the two commenters, who went by the screen names “investedjp” and “flypapernhoney.” As shares in Port St. Lucie-based Digital Domain (NYSE: DDMG) fell in recent months, investedjp made references to Textor’s wife and children in a way that made Textor fear for their safety.

The Textors’ suit identifies the two commenters as John Doe 1 and John Doe 2. Among the comments were “sexually explicit” references to Textor’s wife, wrote Fort Lauderdale attorney Matthew Nelles.

“The Textors have been, and continue to be, victimized and illegally threatened by the John Does,” Nelles wrote. “This violence is alarmingly increasing on a daily basis.”

As an example, Nelles pointed to a July 31 comment by investedjp that read, in part, “this is ALL about who the real textor is and those of us who have been around him no what your are dealing with. We will see how he explains this to both his children.”

Textor isn’t the first Treasure Coast CEO to take offense at nasty messages from an anonymous poster on a Yahoo! message board. In 1999, Harbor Florida Bancshares of Fort Pierce filed suit against a person who posted critical comments about President Michael Brown.
