Last week, Microsoft announced a number of enhancements to its Hyper-V server virtualization platform. The new programs are focused on easing a company's transition into a private cloud environment by streamlining the path through server virtualization and into cloud computing.

Recently, Bob Muglia, server and tools business president at Microsoft, explained the updates in detail during an interview with OnWindows.

"Hyper-V Cloud is a set of new programs that makes it even easier for businesses to use the Windows Server platform as the basis for their own cloud infrastructures. It includes everything from guidance to new tools and incentive programs," Muglia told the news source.

The essential focus of these new programs, according to Muglia, is to provide virtual server hosting providers and other leaders in private cloud hosting a set of blueprints to use as the framework for establishing cloud computing in virtualized data centers.

Hyper-V is an ideal hypervisor platform because it can allow quick and scalable deployment while still retaining a measure of customization within the virtual environment, Muglia told OnWindows. In many ways, Hyper-V is a perfect match with VPS servers, as it provides a similar blend of customization and ease-of-use.
